Birch leaves

Birches are often pioneer plants in open areas and can live up to 160 years. The weeping birch or white birch is the most common species of the birch family in Germany.

Taste. Birch leaves have a slightly bitter flavour. The older the leaf, the more bitter the flavour.

Effect. Birch leaves contain flavonoids that stimulate urine production - so they have a diuretic effect. Teas prepared from birch leaves are therefore particularly helpful for bladder inflammation or urinary tract infections.
